2009 Wedding Traditions Winner

Lisa and Frank Murray

A dream born as a summer vacation came true for Lisa and Frank Murray in May 2009. Since she was a little girl, Lisa had spent her every summer vacationing in Emerald Isle. When she was 14, Lisa and her family stayed in a beautiful "Sand Castle" called An Island Oasis and when she walked into that house for the first time, she said "this is where I am getting married"!

Years later Lisa began dating her prince charming. They discussed marriage, and the one requirement was that the wedding would be on the beach in Emerald Isle. Frank, a pretty laid back guy, thought what a great idea... no ties, no socks, no shoes, this will be great!

The wedding planning was underway. Lisa had the support of her family and the wonderful staff of Emerald Isle Realty. They were so responsive and wonderful to work with. It was a great year of planning.

The week before the wedding, the entire bridal party hit the road from all over the east coast to spend a week in Emerald Isle. The days were filled with playing in the waves, laying on the beach, and visiting surf shops. The evenings were spent playing pool, relaxing in the hot tub, and lots of games!

The wedding was on Saturday at week's end and was, in some sense, bitter sweet. The entire week everyone had such a great time and it was hard to realize that it was almost over. The Murray Bridal Party decided then, that every year we would gather at Emerald Isle and keep alive the friendships and memories of a great wedding week.

And the wedding itself - it was as beautiful as Lisa had dreamed all those years!! The sun was shining, the water was calm, and the clouds looked like puffy cotton candy. Everyone agreed that this beautiful ceremony was made even more special because of the picture-postcard beach setting.

The reception was a blast, the food was delicious and the guests had a ball. The evening ended with a romantic boat ride along the intercoastal waterway to bring them back brought them back to their beach house. Lisa and Frank had their perfect wedding.

The wedding is over, the gifts are put away and the thank you cards are written. Lisa and Frank still have the wonderful memories of their perfect wedding, and look forward to the many more years they will spend in Emerald Isle!
